October Play! by Sephora
Hi,
I know I'm late but I was busy. So here we are at the end of the month with the review of my Sephora play box. I am going to change it up this month and not post product information after the product review cause I don't feel like it. Here we go.
This month's theme is Your Beauty Recipe. I dig that they actually did a recipe on the pamphlet.
This month's bag is Tardis blue. I rather like the shade. I'm still on the fence with the bags themselves but I like the color change.
Smashbox Photo Finish Foundation Primer. This was the first primer I actually ever tried. Since then I have always had one on hand. This one is wonderful. It's a thick clear gel that goes on smoothly with ease. It always leaves my skin feeling primers and flawless. I dig it and would of course but it again.
You can get a 1oz tube for $36. Which I know doesn't sound like a lot but a lot of this stuff goes a long way.
Moroccanoil Night Body Serum. This was something I haven't tried before. I first thought it was a face serum which I'm into but a body serum really isn't something I would have thought of. It's easy to apply. I only put it on my arms. It did leave my skin soft but I really didn't see a huge difference. I actually broke the vial when I went to use it today. It's an oil type serum so it slipped. Honestly, I wouldn't buy this again cause it's not something I'm looking for.
A 3.4 fl oz of this is $62.
Urban Decay All Nighter Long-Lasting Makeup Setting Spray. I have tried this one as well and it's literally one of the best setting sprays. It's not sticky or greasy and it leaves your face in perfection. I have worked out and been out all night at a concert and it doesn't ruin or run. I dig this and would buy it again.
This comes in a couple size you can get a jumbo 8oz or a 2 pack for $42, $33 for a 4oz standard bottle, and mini size for $15. It lasts a good while too.
Buy All Nighter Long-Lasting Setting Spray.
So this month's box was strange to me. If you subscribe to this then you know you get spoilers of what's in the box a couple of days before you get it.
So this was mine. Which none of these products are even in this box. None of them at all or anything even close to them. I did email Sephora and have yet to get a response. Usually, it's not a big deal for me cause I will take whatever to a certain point. My main issue is I got 3 different Foundation in this box. Which is fine I love trying a new foundation. The issues are they are not my shade. They are maybe 2 or 3 shades darker so they are kind of useless to me. I did test them and took a picture to show you how off they are. They will still get a proper review but I wanted to address this beforehand since I decided to group the foundation on the final part.
BeautyBlender Bounce Liquid Whip Long Wear Foundation in 2.10 C. I appreciate the thought they put into the sample it's self. It's a packet that looks like the full size. This is one I wanted to try so I was excited to at-least do that.
The formula isn't heavy and the coverage is really great. I use red lipstick under my eyes to cancel out my bags. Also, it helps so you can see the difference. You can tell it's too dark on the left but I was able to use concealer to kinda lighting it up for a complete look. However, in certain lights, you can tell it's still the wrong shade. Despite that, I do like the foundation and would buy it.
A bottle of foundation is $40 and comes in 30 shades. They need more.
Tarte Water Foundation Broad Spectrum SPF 15- Rainforest of the Sea Collection in 22N Light Neutral. I have actually tried this concealer version of this and love it so I was excited to revisit it. This one isn't too heavy. This one was a little darker than the first one I reviewed.
The coverage is pretty good despite my under-eye bags. I do wish it was a little more full coverage. It's not a bad foundation but I don't think I would purchase it not. Mainly cause I prefer some of the other Tarte foundations to this one.
A bottle of this is $39 and it comes in 30 shades which is kinda silly.
Make up for Ever Matte Velvet Skin Full Coverage Foundation in Y245 Soft Sand. So I actually review this one before.
I am still pretty into this foundation. I only had to use a little to cover my whole face. It does hold up and doesn’t leave me greasy or cakey. This one was the darkest of the 3 and you can tell. I may use this to mix with the lighter shade I have and see if I can mix or control.
This one has 40 shades and is $38 a tube.
Buy Matte Velvet Skin Full Coverage.
Honestly, I don't know about this box. I think it's just cause I'm bummed about the foundation shades being off. However, I just feel like Sephora dropped the ball. Why tell me I'm getting one thing and turn it around to something completely different. This is sadly not the first time it's happened that I've gotten something different. Previously it's just been one product and it wasn't as bad as this. I am going to see how next month goes but since they have been off the past couple of months. I may cancel. Who knows?
Anyone else gets one? What did you get? If you want to sign up it's $10 a month and as always the link is below.
